a love letter to my fire

I am a woman of a delightful season,

my fire no longer on the outside.

I have stopped, dropped, and rolled

   enough for a lifetime.

Now my flames rise from within,

I burn with my own desire.

My flickers, whipped to frenzy,

   leap to connect

        and fuel

the wildfire of my sisters in light.

Inspired by the Sandra Cisneros poem:

At Fifty I Am Startled to Find that I Am in My Splendor
